The test was carried out by the respected British publication Virus Bulletin. In all, thirty three antivirus solutions were tested, including solutions from many of the leading vendors. The solutions ran on computers under the management of a 64-bit server running Microsoft Windows 2008 Server R2.

During the tests, the security products had to detect and neutralize both known and unknown malware from a number of different collections, including: - viruses and worms from WildList.org, and worms, bots, Trojans and other polymorphous software from similar sources. The updated collections included some of the latest malware, e.g. WildList.org had new versions of the Koobface worm.

To assess the rate of false positives, the solutions were tested on an updated set of clean files. Additionally, the test estimated how the antivirus solutions affected the performance of a computer's crucial system resources – the central processor and RAM.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition (beta-version) and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Servers passed the test successfully and justly received their VB100 award. Both antivirus programs demonstrated a 100% detection rate for threats from WildList.org and a high level of detection when up against malicious software from other collections. Moreover, the solutions recorded zero false positives and had negligible effect on the performance of the CPU and memory functions.

This was especially noticeable with Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers Enterprise Edition which is expected to be released commercially in autumn of this year.

The Virus Bulletin experts expressed their approval of the user-friendly multimedia interface, easy installation, high-speed performance and levels of protection offered by Kaspersky Lab's products.
